You read it right! We scored a major victory. No, I have not been pardoned yet. That is something we are still working on, but on March 14, 2025 Judge Mehta ruled, "the court hereby grants Plaintiff’s Request for Voluntarily Dismissal with Prejudice, ECF No. 367, and dismisses this action against all Defendants with prejudice." With that, the January 6th civil suit, which plagued us for 3 years was over.
Background
Many people do not know that there were two January 6th civil suits. One of them involved Trump, the Oath Keepers, and the Proud Boys. The other only included the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys. These civil suits were so similar that the judge rolled them up into one. So in a strange way, I was a co-defendant with Donald Trump.
I wrote about this civil suit in more detail here.
It is so clear that this was lawfare against us. George Soros backed law firms we're leading the charge. They were suing for maximum damages. I could have been hit with a multi-million dollar judgment.
Case Dismissed
At the end of February 2025, the city of DC, which was the plaintiff in one of the suits, filed a motion to dismiss. I was only named in this suit. However, some Oath Keepers and Proud Boys are named in both. Two weeks later, on March 14th, the judge ruled to dismiss the case. My wife and I breathed a sigh of relief.
If we had been hit with a multi-million dollar judgment, we could not have moved from Florida. It would have forever crippled my family. But the Lord has delivered us!
One More To Go
The plaintiffs in the suit against Trump and others (this is the 2nd civil suit) have pledged to continue the lawfare, saying, "We are committed to holding these insurrectionists accountable." Thankfully, I am not named in that suit. The defendants in this case, including Trump, need this suit dropped as well.
Speculation About Pardons
Some have speculated that we were not pardoned, because we are also co-defendants with Trump. The reasoning goes: Trump needed a reason to investigate our Sedition cases. If he had pardoned us, there would have been no reason to investigate. By not pardoning us, he has a reason to investigate. Now, the investigation can reveal the truth that there was no plan to disrupt Congress or take over the government.
This finding would undercut the basis of the civil suits and help to get them dismissed. So some think not pardoning the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys was a strategic move to also deal with these civil suits. This is strictly speculation. No one has any inside information as to the reasoning behind commuting our sentences.
